Here are a few tips to help your child succeed this school year!
Go back-to-school shopping together: Taking your child back-to-school shopping for some fun supplies or a first day-of-school outfit will get them excited for the school year. Take them to the grocery store as well so they can pick out a few fun, healthy and nutritious items for their lunch box.
Establish a clean and quiet area for homework: Whether it's at their desk, the kitchen table or in the office, try to create a clean and quiet space for them to complete their homework without any unneeded distractions.
Make mornings easy: Encourage your kids to lay out their school outfit the night before. If they play sports, have them pack their school bags ahead of time as well. Consider packing their lunches the night before, too.
Tour the school together: Take advantage of any open houses or back-to-school nights that the school holds. Try meeting the teacher ahead of time, and if your teacher sends out a welcome letter, read it with your child. Familiarizing your child with their new school will help them feel more comfortable and confident on the first day.
Communicate with the teachers: If you see your child struggling, or if tensions are high with daily assignments, reach out to the teachers to express your concerns.
Find group support: Talk to other parents at your school. You may find it is a valuable way to share tips and learn more about what's going on.
